Free Family STEAM Night: Papier-Mâché & Mask Making *RESERVATION REQUIRED!*

This event takes place on 10/10, and continues on 10/17!

• Thurs 10/10 4-6 PM: Celebrate Halloween by learning about the history of papier-mâché masks and costumes! After looking at old recipes for medium/glue, your family or team will develop a hypothesis and experiment to create your own! The best recipe found will become the official recipe for "A Folk Halloween Experience." Once your recipe is finalized, you’ll design your mask and apply the first two layers of papier-mâché.

• Thurs 10/17 4-6 PM: Continue last week’s activity by recording your observations of the dried masks when you arrive. Then, you and your family or team will build on your work by applying papier-mâché clay, adding Gesso, and using craft paint or other materials to sculpt facial features. Once your mask is complete, you’ll be able to take it home, where you can add elastic or finish any additional painting!

Registration is required for the nights of 10/10/24 and 10/17/24 from 4-6 PM due to anticipated interest and limited space, seating, and materials. If possible, we'd appreciate it if you could register by Friday, September 27, 2024, to ensure we have enough supplies for registrants.
