Exciting News from The Science Zone!
We’re thrilled to introduce two brand-new traveling exhibits:
Ocean Bound & How People Make Things — and we want YOUR classroom to experience them!
Open to all grade levels — public, private, and homeschool groups!
Choose your adventure:
⚠️ Space is limited! These exhibits are only here temporarily, so don’t wait—register today!
These immersive experiences connect classroom learning with hands-on discovery, sparking curiosity and creativity. Whether your students are future engineers or water protectors, this is a field trip they won’t forget!
Let’s make science unforgettable—reserve your spot now!
Aligned with 5th grade NGSS science standards, this experience helps students connect classroom learning to the vital role water plays in our world — and inspires the next generation of water protectors.
LEARN MOREDive into an underwater adventure and discover how everyone’s actions affect the oceans. Ocean Bound gives students a unique and breathtaking introduction to the majesty of the waterways. Pilot a giant submersible, experience many different aquatic species and ecosystems, guide water safely through a hazardous maze, and make rain cascade down mountains, through rivers, and finally to the ocean!
What can YOU do in your watershed to protect our oceans? Find out in Ocean Bound!
LEARN MOREEver wonder how a box becomes a box? Or how a sneaker becomes a sneaker? Chances are your child has. At How People Make Things, students learn firsthand about tools and processes used to make everyday objects. It’s just one more way we inspire children to think outside the box.
LEARN MOREStudents will observe and understand the states of matter by assisting Science Zone staff in throwing the party of the year! Students will create rainbow-colored flames using chemical reactions, explore sublimation with dry ice balloons, and enjoy a bowl of liquid nitrogen ice cream!
Learn MoreGet ready to shake your world with these fun and interactive workshops at The Science Zone! Students will learn about the science of earthquakes and how engineers and architects design buildings to stand up to these powerful forces of nature. Through hands-on activities and experiments, they’ll get a closer look at how earthquakes happen, the damage they can cause, and what we can do to reduce it.
Join the Science Zone at one of our special natural locations! On a Casper Critters field trip, we will explore the plants, arthropods, birds, and other wild things in our town. Activities include food-web tag, observation bingo, and collection curation!
Locations include Rim Rock, Rotary Park, Reshaw Park, and Edness Kimball Wilkins State Spark. Maps will be provided.
Students will observe and understand the difference between chemical and physical reactions through various experiments including elephant toothpaste explosions, carbon snakes, rainbow flames, and soda geysers! Note: For student safety, this lesson relies heavily on observation only and does not include a hands-on component. We suggest pairing this lesson with quality time in the museum for a hands-on student experience.
Learn MoreSome of our most beloved scaley and slithering residents of The Science Zone are ready to meet you and your class! Our Animal Education and Care Specialists invite you to view, touch, learn about, and even feed our Zoo Zone animals in this animal encounter adventure! We will discuss habitat conservation, physical adaptations, and wildlife rehabilitation. Examples of animals you may meet include snakes, tarantulas, iguanas, tortoises, rabbits, and more! Our animal care team will choose animal interactions based on animal health, care needs, and class sizes.
Learn MoreStudents will learn the science of circuitry through a variety of electrifying experiments! Students will light up their day creating their own light up name tags, observe the power of the sun through solar robots, and use food and wires to make music! Note: Activities are tailored to the requested grade level. Circuitry activities may change depending on age and number of students.
Learn MoreStudents will implement the engineering design process through a series of water challenges. Students will be given materials and a budget to design boats that float, hold passengers, and move! Students will also discuss the importance of Wyoming waterways and how we can be environmental stewards for our water habitats!
Learn MoreFree exploration of our hands-on science museum with no instructor led activity
Learn MoreOur education team can meet your STEAM teaching needs. Tell us what kinds of topics you're working on and we'll customize a field trip specifically tailored to the needs of your students.
Learn MoreThe Science Zone is thrilled to introduce our brand-new traveling exhibit, Ocean Bound — and we want to share it with YOUR classroom! Thanks to a partnership with the City of Casper Wastewater Collection/Stormwater Division, we’re able to provide a Every Drop Counts workshop to accompany this opportunity at no cost to schools.
