The Science Zone is excited to announce their partnership with Serve Wyoming and AmeriCorps.

AmeriCorps provides opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to give their time and talent to strengthen communities across our country. Being part of the AmeriCorps team at The Science Zone will bring the satisfaction of supporting an organization built on providing a service to our community and will provide many lifelong benefits.

The Science Zone in Casper is currently recruiting AmeriCorps members to serve in our education program. AmeriCorps members will help provide educational programming in classrooms, in before and after school programs, community outreach activities and summer camps. Members will have flexible scheduling options and will be provided with training, a monthly living stipend, and an education award upon completion. Housing assistance is available.


AmeriCorps Service Opportunities

Reduced Half Time: 675 hours

We are currently bringing on members for reduced half-time positions. This position runs from Jan. 3 to Aug. 12 and involves a 675-hour commitment. Reduced Half-time members will primarily engage with students through before and after-school science clubs and by providing Saturday activities in the community, outdoors, or at The Science Zone. There may be occasional evening community education events as well. During the summer, reduced halftime members will assist in the delivery of summer camps and community outreach events. During the summer, member hours will shift to full-time and will involve a multitude of outdoor activities. Members will support education activities, docent activities, and outreach events at The Science Zone or in the community. Depending on the abilities of the member, this position may include hiking, biking, kayaking, rock climbing, animal care, or social media/marketing support. This is a position that is perfect for someone who has 10-12 hours/week to contribute from January through May and is also available to help full time during our summer camp season and includes a stipend and an education award. Housing assistance may be available. Candidates must be 18 years old and have earned a HS Diploma or GED.

Quarter Time: 450 hours

We are also looking to fill our summer positions soon! These positions run from May 23 to Aug. 12 and require a 450-hour commitment. In addition to educational activities, docent activities, and outreach events at The Science Zone or in the community, quarter-time members will help lead outdoor activities and summer camp education. Much of our summer will be spent outdoors and may include camping, backpacking, biking, fishing, kayaking, and other outdoor activities. This position may also involve traveling to various locations for overnight camp experiences. This position is perfect for those who are looking for a summer experience that can provide the benefits of AmeriCorps membership such as a stipend and education award. Summer housing assistance may be available. Candidates must be 18 years old and have earned a HS Diploma or GED.

Minimum Time: 300 hours

Don’t have that much time or you are not looking for that much of a commitment? Then take a look at our Minimum Time availability. It is a position that requires 300 hours that can be served anytime between Jan. 3 and Aug. 12. Minimum time members will support the museum through education activities, docent activities, and outreach events at The Science Zone or in the community. The hours can be adjusted to YOUR schedule. Candidates must be 17 years old and have earned, or will earn, a HS Diploma or GED prior to Aug. 12th. This is a perfect position for service-oriented people that have a desire to help elevate science education in our community and support the activities of The Science Zone. This position includes an education award and a small stipend.
